How does rewire work

I don't like the lack of audio-in while in Rewire mode, also Ableton is not very efficient with Reason for Rewire. But its cool so I can use effects I dont have in Reason on Reason' synths. It was a headache to setup the template but then, you're good to go.

I want to make more music in Reason only in the future but not sure if its totally practical for me because of a lack of a decent multi-band compressor and some other stock things. Post Thu Apr 20, pm Marco Raaphorst wrote: bad thing about Rewire is that all audio tracks are low res.

Not sure how I feel about voicemeter over a second daw yet but so far it's pretty much the same thing minus a second project file to keep track of. I rewire reason with studio one since rewire worked perfectly with that daw as it didn't interfere with anything reason had, plus had another great sequencer and set of tools to use as well I have no use for ableton link as I only own that daw, due to it being bundled with so much shit like reason limited was for the korg products.

I've asked this question to gauge specifically reason users testing if they liked using any other software besides reason I'm still wondering how I feel about the following below instead of a second daw:. Post Thu Apr 20, pm I use rewire with Logic sometimes. Unless you are using really CPU-heavy plugins, it works fine. More often I just prefer to work inside one or the other DAW, though.

Check out the first single, "City Lights:. Post Thu Apr 20, pm Have they fixed the ability to go in and out of sync at will? That function was broken in v6 or 6. I stopped using it as I used to Protools as the main DAW running the live instruments and Reason running the midi. Now, I do all the instruments in Reason, bounce tracks then import into PT for vocal cutting and mixing.

I find myself cutting more and more vocals in reason these days. Post Thu Apr 20, pm Rewire was cool years ago but not being able to use reasons instruments like a native VST instrument is to cumbersome. Post Fri Apr 21, am That is an option in some daws, that midi syncing stuff. But there's multiple ways to do that and one of those is in reason's options menu.

Love running Reason with S1 perfect for my workflow. When using Rewire it makes more sense to connect your Reason sound modules directly to the interface module so they are routed directly to individual channels in Pro Tools. Otherwise you'll end up with two mixers to deal with, and lose the advantage of Pro Tools's mix environment and plug-ins.

In the screen shot above you'll see that the Subtractor and Malstrom modules each have their own channels in my Pro Tools Session. The screen shot above will probably tell you most of what you need to know. Here, I've created a MIDI track, clicked on the output selector, and by some voodoo all the instruments in the Reason song are presented for selection. The Transport linking and sync are just as clever. As soon as you've made a connection between Pro Tools and Reason, hitting Play in either application will start up both.

Sync between the Pro Tools timeline and Reason's sequencer is automatically handled without any messing about with timecode or Beat Clock. In fact I was amazed to see that even the left and right loop locators will follow each other when moved in either program, and looping can be switched on or off from either side. A quick warning if you're planning to rush out to buy one of the new G5 Macs: if you've got Digidesign PCI cards they may not be compatible — ever.

This includes the lower clock-speed G5 models that don't use the newer PCI standard, as they still don't supply the voltage required by the older cards. Most notable among the incompatible systems is the Digi Two channels can be brought into a stereo track via a multi-mono Rewire plug-in. Switch off the Link button linked rings icon to set the L and R separately.

Stereo connections : Rewire audio ports can be mono, or linked as stereo pairs. In Reason, Rewire channels 1 and 2 are linked as stereo, with all other channels designated as mono.
